Back in Sheffield to visit more abandoned sites and capture artwork by the city’s graffiti artists. There is a really exciting movement developing in the city. On arrival in this former water filtering plant we thought there was a multitude of discarded beer cans strewn throughout the place. Closer inspection revealed them to be empty spray paint cans. I thought some might look nice arranged a little.
Some of the pieces were familiar (photographer Romany WG catalogued work from here back in 2009 for his book ‘out of sight’) whilst others were newly painted ~ worked over the older stuff.
This piece by Faunagraphic has slowly degraded over the past few years as the plaster crumbles from the walls. This ephemeral nature of the work in general is very much part of the appeal.
