Exhibition and open studio in Sheffield last weekend featuring the work of Rocket01 and Faunagraphic ~ two of the city’s most prominent artists in the flourishing urban art movement.
Nice to see inside their studio and to also see how others have interpreted and captured their work in the photography exhibition there.
I have gone from the motivation of capturing urban abandonment in it’s found form to being fascinated by way these ‘graffiti’ artists are using dereliction as a canvas.
The work of Kid Acne has graced Sheffield’s walls for longer than most and he is currently exhibiting in L.A.
Just around the corner from Bloc studios where Rocket & Faunagraphic work on new ideas (the prep for their projects is meticulous) are some excellent new pieces.
Nice to see so many people attending the opening night. The growing level of attention which the movement is attracting will ask some interesting questions about the environments in which we all live, work and play and will, hopefully help to raise awareness of how much say we can have in choosing our own visual environments.
